The legendary TV drama airing in the early 2000s didn’t live a girl’s heart untouched. The luxurious life of Manhattan’s elite, their affairs, and simply daily routines seemed so unreachable and far. Yet, what is human makes an appearance in everyone’s life regardless of their social status. Some of the things, life truths, and lessons shown and taught throughout the show are applicable in our commoners’ lives as well.

1. Always Look Good

This piece of advice may seem a little obvious at first but is actually often overlooked. How many times have you thought that today is going to bring nothing special, then suddenly a meeting with a friend or colleague must be scheduled? Or a simple trip to Target or a park? It is not about being stereotypically beautiful but ready for every situation: having your skincare routine done, house cleaned, clothes washed and dried, and mind at peace.

2. People Will Gossip

Being literally the main point of the show, constant gossiping is a part of everyone’s life. Whether it’s a lovely small talk with old friends sharing news or a major announcement of someone else’s failure, gossiping has always been, is, and will be. There’s no way to escape but accept that people will talk however good or bad you may be.

3. Go For What You Want In Life Before Who You Want In Life

Instead of chasing our own dreams and aspirations, many of us fall into an endless pursuit of the right partner without being the right partner yourself. Don’t get me wrong — falling in love is amazing and inspiring. Yet, an inherent part of love in mutual giving and what one can give when one of the partners is nothing but an empty shell. In this case, the relationship would not only be dull but eventually crash with both parties suffering. Pursue your own happiness first, lead a fulfilling life, travel, read books, have hobbies you enjoy, and only then you’d be able to enjoy your love to its fullest.

XOXO. Gossip Girl.
